2018 教师 Achievement Award Winners to Be Honored at FSU Convocation

The recipients of the 2018 教师 Achievement Awards will be honored at the Frostburg State University Honors Convocation on Wednesday, 5月23日, 晚上7:30.m. in the Pealer Recital Hall of FSU’s Woodward D. Pealer Performing Arts Center.

This year’s recipients are Dr. 凯伦凯勒, Department of Biology, for University and community service, and Dr. D. 艾伦Bensley当时喊着, Department of Psychology, for professional development. The awards are made possible through generous gifts to the FSU 基金会, Inc.

In addition to the faculty award, outstanding graduating students will be honored at the convocation by their departments for academic excellence and leadership.

In her 10 years at FSU, Keller has demonstrated an exemplary record of service to the University, which is her alma mater. The most noteworthy of her recent accomplishments was her role in conceiving, developing and organizing the annual Undergraduate Research Symposium for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. This event serves to highlight the research activities of FSU students across the CLAS majors and provide students an experiential opportunity to share what they have learned with the larger campus community. In addition, Keller has a history of impressive service to numerous University committees. 最近, she served as co-chair of the 战略计划ning Task Force; she has also served on the Academic Standards Subcommittee, Health Professions Advisory Committee, 教师 Promotion and Tenure Subcommittee, and 领导 and Experiential Learning Sloop Committee, just to name a few. On top of all this, she has continued to excel in her teaching and professional development. Keller is an outstanding faculty member and devoted to the enhancement of students and faculty at FSU.

A leading researcher in his field, Bensley has had many articles published in academic journals and popular science journals and has made numerous research presentations at professional conferences. His second textbook on critical thinking, “Critical Thinking in Psychology and Everyday Life: A Guide to Effective Thinking,” was published in December 2017. It explores topics such as scientific reasoning, identifying pseudosciences and critical thinking in evaluating the Internet. Bensley has a notable record of scholarship with FSU students and faculty. He has co-presented dozens of high-quality posters and presentations with his students and colleagues at national and international psychology conferences. 整体, Bensley has devoted a substantial amount of time and energy to his research, which has benefited the University, the Psychology Department and his student and faculty collaborators.
