比尔Mandicott, assistant vice president of Student and 社区 Involvement at Frostburg State University, has been selected as the inaugural recipient of the President’s Distinguished 工作人员 Award, which was presented during FSU’s 152nd Commencement Ceremony.

This award recognizes a staff member who has provided exceptional service to the University and has helped to advance its mission, goals and priorities. FSU has awarded a President’s Distinguished 教师 Award for six years, but this year a similar award was created for staff members in recognition of the countless ways that staff support Frostburg’s excellence.

“比尔Mandicott has an incomparable work ethic and a deep commitment to connect the University with the community,” said FSU President Ronald Nowaczyk, in presenting the award. “Much of our national recognition for civic engagement is the result of Bill’s vision and his ability to develop effective partnerships with others.”

Mandicott has been a champion of service, social change and involvement for decades, dating back to when he first saw the potential in integrating AmeriCorps with higher education, starting the now 25-year history of A STAR! in Western Maryland. Its reach now stretches from Garrett County to Frederick County, addressing some of the region’s greatest needs. 项目 like Turbo Vote, Town Hall meetings with the J. Glenn Beall Institute for Public Affairs and the NASPA – Student Affairs Professionals in Higher Education’s LEAD Initiative are just the most recent initiatives that connect the institution with the broader community.

Mandicott is also a valued mentor to students, including many leaders in the Student Government Association. He has professionalized the employment experience of students who work for the Lane Center, including many who have gone on to work in the entertainment industry in major markets like New York and Washington.

“Because of his vision, 能源, commitment and spirit of collaboration, programs now exist that continue to make a significant difference in the lives of our students and the residents of this region,” Nowaczyk said. “Today we not only celebrate Bill’s many accomplishments, we also pay tribute to the values he embodies. Bill is a true servant leader, and his genuine concern for our students and his colleagues is evident in all that he does.”
