Statement from J. Glenn Beall, Jr. Institute for Public Affairs Board on the passing of Sen. Paul Sarbanes

Dec 8, 2020 4:30 PM

The Board of the J. Glenn Beall, Jr. Institute for Public Affairs of Frostburg State University wishes to express its sadness on the passing of Senator Paul Sarbanes. Senator Sarbanes worked tirelessly on behalf of the citizens of Maryland and the nation during his long career of public service. We want to especially note during this time of national partisanship that even though Senator Sarbanes defeated Senator J. Glenn Beall, Jr. in 1976, Senators Beall and Sarbanes became good personal friends following that election and worked together without regard to political party for the betterment of Maryland until Senator Beall’s passing in 2006.  We extend our deep sympathies to the Sarbanes family.
